Manatee Adventure
During a recent visit to Florida to visit Molossian citizens and family there, The President and First Lady undertook a naval expedition to visit manatees in their native habitat. Manatees are large, fully aquatic herbivores sometimes known as sea cows. Manatees live in the warm coastal waters of the Caribbean, feeding on underwater plants. In the cooler months Manatees congregate around springs inland from the ocean, moving downriver toward the sea as the ocean waters warm. It was near one of these springs, on the Crystal River, that the First Couple found several manatees, after a long voyage upriver. This voyage also included a bonus experience of watching dolphins catch fish by jumping out of the water and literally scaring their prey right into their mouths. Arriving at the spring, The President and First Lady observed several manatees, including a mother and her calf, and a large older manatee, covered in algae, that His Excellency mistook for a boulder when he first spotted it. The First Couple spent about an hour with the manatees, observing and enjoying, before reboarding their boat for the journey back to civilization. It was a very successful expedition, a landmark scientific voyage of exploration and discovery!
