INTERMICRONATIONAL OLYMPIC GAMES OPEN
13 August 2004 XXVII

Khamsin Molossia News

The 2004 Mahina and Shireroth Intermicronational Olympic Games have opened today, the third such Games held exclusively for the world of unrecognized nations. These two nations have come together to host the 2004 Games, and have already made an excellent start with an outstanding website, forum and demonstration of commitment.

The Intermicronational Olympic Games were first held in Molossia in August of 2000. They were (and are) modeled on the macronational Olympic Games and were held at the same time as the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. The 2000 Games were a resounding success. The second Games were hosted by the Kingdom of TorHavn in the spring of 2002. They were originally timed to coincide with the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, but circumstances necessitated that they be delayed until later in the year. A dispute with the United States Olympic Committee resulted in these Games being renamed "The Intermicronational Games". This dispute has since been resolved and the Games are again able to be identified as the "Intermicronational Olympic Games".

The Intermicronational Olympics tend to mirror the spirit and activities of the macronational Games. Several on-line events are held, such as checkers and chess, and some events are held off-line, such as the shot-put and discus. Geared toward the micronational world, these events are designed to appeal to both the spirit of the macronational Games and the needs of our micronational citizens. We here in Molossia are proud to support Mahina and Shireroth in this year's Games.
