GREIFENBERG STATE VISIT
22 April 2008 XXXI
Khamsin Molossia News

The Republic of Molossia was honored to host an official State Visit from His Royal Highness Grand Duke Paul of Greifenberg, on Monday 21 April 2008 XXXI. Grand Duke Paul arrived in our nation promptly at 9:39 AM MST (9:00 AM PST), and was greeted by His Excellency, The President, in a red carpet ceremony. Following the official greeting, His Excellency escorted the Grand Duke to Republic Square, where the Grand Duchy's flag was flying, along with the Molossian flag. Official photos were taken at Republic Square, after which the President took His Royal Highness on a tour of Molossia.

After the tour, The President and Grand Duke Paul met for about two hours in Norton Park, discussing matters of micronational and intermicronational importance. The meeting was a chance for the leaders of both nations to get to know each other and learn about each other's respective countries. The topic of conversation then turned to intermicronational affairs. His Royal Highness expressed a keen interest in the League of Small Nations, the largely dormant organization to which Molossia belongs, and which is dedicated to the advancement of landed micronations. Grand Duke Paul is extremely interested in resuscitating the LSN, and giving it a purpose that will advance and promote the organization itself as well as the member nations. Much of the day was spent discussing the various aspects of this organization and how to get it up and running.

Following the morning meeting in Norton Park, His Excellency and His Royal Highness adjourned to nearby Virginia City, for a brief tour of the city and lunch. The official party then returned to Molossia and resumed talks until nearly 4:00 PM MST, at which time Grand Duke Paul departed Molossia, officially ending the State Visit. Later in the evening, His Excellency and His Royal Highness met again for an informal dinner in Carson City, continuing their earlier conversations and bringing them to a close. Grand Duke Paul returned to Greifenberg the next morning.

This event was the first State Visit ever to take place in Molossia, and it was an unqualified success. It set the stage for a long-term friendship between Molossia and Greifenberg, as well laying the groundwork for a new and revitalized League of Small Nations. It was a great pleasure for our small nation to host Grand Duke Paul's visit, and The President has expressed a desire for a reciprocal visit to Greifenberg in the future. We look forward to that future meeting, as well as an amicable, positive and productive relationship between our two countries for many years to come.
