2009 New Year's Speech

New Year's Speech

Given by His Excellency, President Kevin Baugh
January 26th, 2009 XXXII

My Fellow Molossians, Greetings.

Today we are meeting the New Year, and today we look into the future with greater confidence.

Every country has its own set of challenges and no one can deny that during the past year, our mettle was well tested. The departure of the First Lady was a blow to our national morale and confidence, and cast a pall over our nation. In spite of this, we continued to push forward. Our nation is a mighty and wondrous place, and our energy is boundless. We continue to make great strides in the areas of tourism and diplomacy and our nation's name continues to be broadcast from news outlets around the world. We have much to be proud of, and it is on our achievements that we must build this coming year.

We must avoid unnecessary distractions this year - occurrences that can sap our energies and divert our attention from the important work that has to be done. The uncertainty of the world economy is one such distraction. I promise to work tirelessly on your behalf to ensure that this crisis is soon resolved, so that the country can continue to prosper and grow.

As we enter upon this new year, let us prepare ourselves for new challenges. Let us not be intimidated by them for we are a strong nation and I have faith in that strength and in our capacity to rise to the occasion and triumph over adversity. I implore all Molossians to remain strong and resolute in spite of setbacks. We must applaud our successes and capitalize on the rich pool of talent that has placed our small nation in the forefront of global achievements.

I have full of confidence in the people of Molossia to confront the challenges ahead with the good sense they have displayed throughout our thirty-two years as a nation. There are difficult problems and hard choices during these spare times, but there are always opportunities to be had as well. Let us move forward with vigor and enthusiasm, being ever mindful of the fact that Molossia is a land of hope and promise. As always, I pledge to lead you into the future and stand shoulder to shoulder with you as we continue to make Molossia the greatest nation on earth.

God Bless You,
Long Live Molossia!
