OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW
Old Medals Replaced
10 May 2003 XXVI

Khamsin Molossia News

Four years ago, our nation ceased to be a Communist state, and with the outgoing ideology went the Communist-style medals. They were replaced with new awrds, the Order of the Purple Foot (First and Second Class), the Order of the Postman and the Order of the Dog.

Time passes, and change is upon us again. New medals have arrived on the scene, replacing the existing ones. Our government has long wrestled with the problem of creating tangible, real medals that represent those shown as graphic art on the "Awards" page. At long last, we have the resources to create real medals, but these medals do not look like the ones we have had until recently. Therefore, our govermnent has rescinded those medals and replaced them. The new medals are the Order of the Desert Star (First and Second Class), the Order of the Palm and the Order of the Miner.

The Order of the Desert Star, First Class, is now our nation's highest award. It replaces the Order of the Purple Foot, First Class. While the Purple Foot was representative of our nation's old views of facing both the Old World and the New, the Desert Star is very symbolic of our nation's place in the West. So, too does the new Order of the Miner, which reflects the heritage of the hard-working prospector of the local desert. Finally, the new Order of the Palm is symbolic of service and caring.

In that the Order of the Purple Foot has been replaced by the Order of the Desert Star, those individuals, foreign and domestic that have recieved the old medals will automatically be considered to be in receipt of the new medals.

The new medals can be seen at the Awards page.
