As previously reported, in April 2010 XXXIII, the Republic of Molossia was invaded and the government of our nation was overthrown. What wasn't told was that the invasion was a carefully scripted, acted and produced movie, designed for broadcast on the internet. In late 2009 XXXIII, The Government of the Republic of Molossia was contacted by the prime movers of the website "That Guy With The Glasses", which showcases original entertainment for an audience including video game enthusiasts and movie buffs. Their intent was to come to Molossia with a large crew and film a mock invasion and takeover of our nation, followed by an overthrow of the invaders and return of the nation to Molossian control. His Excellency, The President agreed to this plan, and in due course on 9 April 2010 XXXXIII, the film crew arrived to make the movie. The crew consisted of many of the regular contributors and / or creators of the The Guy With The Glasses website, Doug Walker (AKA The Nostalgia Critic), his brother Rob on the camera, and their team, Nostalgia Chick, Linkara, Spoony, Cinema Snob, Angry Joe, Phelous, Benzaie, JewWario, MarzGurl, Sage, Lord Kat, Handsome Tom, 8-Bit Mickey, Film Brain, Paw, Lee, Chris Larios and producer Bhargav Dronamraju. Over the course of three days they all worked 12-plus hours daily filming multiple takes and angles in and around Molossia. Several scenes included Our President, especially those involving the invasion and takeover. At least two scenes involved the First Family as disinterested bystanders. Filming complete in our nation, the team wrapped up other scenes in nearby Reno, and then departed to their various native realms. A month later the trailer for the movie appeared throughout the internet world and on 17 May 2010 XXXIII, the first of the six-part "miniseries" premiered on the That Guy With The Glasses website, continuing for the next five days. The film is enormously funny and not only showcases the eccentric side of our nation but also the eccentric crowd that invaded us. We were quite honored to host the denizens of That Guy With The Glasses, a friendly and fun group that always kept us laughing. We are even more proud that our tiny nation was chosen as the venue for their invasion film, and look back on this event as a landmark moment in our nation's history.
